At the Quantum Research and Development Center (QRDC),  innovation is shaped by more than advanced technology—it is driven by people. Guided by the UAE’s national vision, QRDC brings together science, digital transformation, and human capital to build a sustainable, knowledge-driven future. At the heart of this journey are women whose expertise, leadership, and dedication are helping strengthen the UAE’s position in quantum and photonic sciences.

That journey is reflected in the story of Eng. Lina, Business Development Manager at QRDC. As the first woman to join a team of scientists and engineers, her appointment symbolized a broader commitment to inclusion in advanced and emerging technologies. Over time, her role evolved, She led strategic initiatives spanning quantum photonics, biomedical imaging, photonic AI chips, and renewable energy, while representing QRDC on the international stage and strengthening global collaborations. Her contributions also extended to operational excellence, assuring high quality standards by the achievement of ISO 9001 certification. She witnessed QRDCs’ transformation into a national research center with four specialized divisions advancing healthcare, security, communication, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy—closely aligned with the UAE’s national innovation priorities.

This same spirit of progress continues through the women shaping QRDC today. Eng. Renuka, an electronics engineer, works at the critical intersection of theory and application. Through advanced circuit design, multilayer PCB development, embedded systems, and precision 3D modeling, she enables rapid prototyping and integration of quantum and optical sensing systems. Her work plays a key role in accelerating the journey from laboratory research to real-world solutions.

Supporting these scientific advances is a strong organizational backbone led by Ms. Priya . As a Certified Procurement Specialist and Human Resource Manager, she ensures that strategic procurement, talent management, and organizational culture move in harmony. By aligning people, processes, and purpose, she reinforces the belief that sustainable innovation depends as much on inclusive leadership and strong governance as it does on scientific discovery.

At the frontier of photonic intelligence and quantum-inspired research, Dr. Fatma contributes within the Photonic Intelligence Computing Lab. Her work on optical trap systems for precision cell analysis and laser-based diagnostics enhances experimental capabilities while promoting cost-effective innovation. Through this work, she supports the UAE’s growing leadership in advanced diagnostics and the future of quantum-enabled healthcare.

Equally vital to this ecosystem is the ability to communicate and scale innovation. Ms. Greeshma plays a key role in translating complex quantum research into accessible digital platforms. Through data processing and website development, she transforms raw research outputs into structured, user-friendly information, bridging advanced technologies with real-world users. Her work supports visibility, adoption, and impact—core pillars of the UAE’s digital transformation agenda.

For Ms. Ruchi, QRDC is both a research environment and a platform for growth. As an Assistant Scientist, she develops nanophotonic and quantum-based detection strategies for nano plastics, combining smart materials with high-precision laser sensing to address challenges in environmental safety and biomedical imaging. Her journey reflects a culture that empowers women researchers to grow, contribute, and lead with confidence.

Eng. Dani’s work focuses on one of the most strategic areas of quantum technology: secure communication. By contributing to free-space and fiber-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) systems, she supports experimental setup, system optimization, and performance monitoring—strengthening the UAE’s future-ready cybersecurity and communication infrastructure while inspiring greater female participation in advanced science and engineering.
