Dr. Harshavardhan Reddy is a highly motivated Laser and Quantum Scientist at Quantlase Lab, where he focuses on developing innovative solutions to complex problems. With over 10 years of academic and industrial research and development experience in lasers, optics and photonics, Dr. Harsha contributed to more than 40 scientific research publications by working on a wide range of cutting-edge research projects. His academic and research journey began at the University of Hyderabad, India where he obtained a 5-year Integrated Master of Science (IMSc) degree in Physics in 2014, supported by prestigious DST-INSPIRE Scholarship from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. During his IMSc, he represented India at the prestigious 62nd Lindau Nobel Laureates Meeting in 2012 supported by DST-DFG Lindau Fellowship from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation), Germany and the Department of Science and Technology, India. In 2013, he was selected for the prestigious National Photonics Fellowship by the Department of Information Technology, Government of India and received SIPIS Research Fellowship from the National University of Singapore, Singapore where he worked at Femtosecond Laser Spectroscopy Lab, Department of Physics, NUS Singapore. He also briefly worked at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai and the Advanced Centre of Research in High Energy Materials, Hyderabad.
Dr. Harsha then obtained his Interdisciplinary and Industrial PhD in Physics from Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) in 2023 by working at the Fiber Optics and Photonics Division of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) - Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata. His PhD research work was supported by the prestigious DST-INSPIRE Fellowship from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. During his PhD, he worked at the Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) and University of Aveiro, Portugal as a Visiting Research Fellow supported by Indo-Portugal Joint Research Project and Institute of Photonics and Quantum Sciences, Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom as a Newton-Bhabha Fellow supported by the Newton Fund, British Council, United Kingdom and Department of Science and Technology, India. He also represented India at the Science and Policy Making Summit at the House of Lords, United Kingdom Parliament, London in 2019. Dr. Harsha then worked at Markolaser (Spinks World) developing innovative solutions for manufacturing special-purpose laser workstations for scientific and industrial applications, before joining Quantlase Lab.
Dr. Harshavardhan Reddy currently holds the position of Laser and Quantum Scientist within the High Power Laser Technology Division and Quantum Photonics Division at Quantlase Lab at Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He works with femtosecond laser systems to develop sustainable, quantum-enabled photonic technologies for practical applications. His expertise is grounded in previous academic and industrial research and development experience in lasers, optics, and photonics.
